QMI
QMI showed two air-coupled ultrasonic instruments in the booth of SONATEST PLC, which is their distributor for Europe. The first instrument was the SONDA 007C Airscan instrument, in production for already a few years. It operates at 400 kHz and was connected to a x-y lab scanner. The second instrument, a protoype of the AIRMAX low frequency ultrasonic instrument, featured a very high sensitivity at frequencies below 200 kHz. With AIRMAX it is possible to penetrate honeycomb materials of up to 50 cm wall thickness, and up to 30 cm thick foam sandwiches, made of ultra low density foam with less than 30kg/m3. It is also capable of testing cork insulations.
